What Do You Do With Your EBike When The Battery Dies?
What do you do with your E-bike when the battery dies?
Quality E-bike batteries will last for five to seven years, but cheaper no-name brand E-bike batteries will only last a year or two. We have a lot of customers come in and they ask to buy a second battery when they get one of our bikes. When we ask why they respond that the current bike they have had a battery that died after a year and they couldn’t get a replacement. They didn't understand that quality batteries can actually last five to seven years. We actually have some customers that have put over 10,000 miles on their bikes with the original batteries in them. Still going strong after almost a decade.
But what do you do if you bought a cheaper e-bike and your battery dies? There are several companies out there that can rebuild them for you. The only drawback is that they're gonna rebuild them with quality cells, and it's gonna cost a lot more. Sometimes it's more than what the bike is actually worth.
At that point, it's probably better just to buy a new e-bike with a higher-quality battery in it. With higher-quality cells it's unlikely the battery will fail until the bike is several years old. If it does, and some do occasionally, then you'll have to replace it. Hopefully, the manufacturer will have a good warranty, so you'll be covered.
